The Carvings

Each carving is unique. All the pieces are carved from clear white pine, finished with heat treated walnut oil and polished with cabinet makers wax.
A carving can take up to 40 hours to make.

The Carver

I was raised on stories of the lumber camp my grandparents owned in Minnesota in the late 1800's. Wood has always been in my mind. I have worked with wood all my adult life in furniture making, house building and finish carpentry. I started carving wood, by hand, late in life during a time when all my power tools had been packed up and put away for a move. Now, few things give me more pleasure than to sit with a sharp knife and a block of wood, quietly making a pile of wood shavings grow at my feet.
