Orchids are wonderful plants, very easily grown in regular planters, or even fine pottery - using a pumice wick beneath sphagnum moss, or pumice stones alone as the media.
This Phalaenopsis orchid plant grows year round in a lovely
ceramic pitcher and blooms faithfully every year. The only
maintenance it needs is a cup of water every three weeks.
Any orchids, from Phalaenopsis to Paphiopedilums, are easy
to grow in decorative vessels with no drain holes.
When any vessel like this is used as a planter, since there
are no drain holes, use a
'water level test kit'
to determine how much, and when to water. Enjoying your
blooming orchid plant in a wonderful presentation like this
is a great pleasure, and very easy to achieve.
